2020 was difficult for many reasons. I don’t want to write about the obvious ones, but the music industry was hit pretty hard, too. It faced a situation when virtually all concerts were canceled, and most of the music infrastructure remained closed. But this didn’t stop musicians and they recorded thousands of songs, while the pandemic often was treated as a direct or silent inspiration. So, no matter if we listened to music to make our life a little bit better in this sea of uncertainty by running from reality into songs, or facing it by enjoying music that comments on the situation, music was important.
It was hard, but we survived. And there were some great songs, which helped us with that. They supported us, guided us through anxiety and sorrow, and lifted us up. Let’s listen to them, together. (Order is non-evaluative.)
